Energy on the islands

Weak grids, salt air, pools and seasonal use: what to watch out for and what we recommend for homes and holiday accommodation.

What is different on the islands

The islands get more sun but also have their own particularities: weaker grids, more frequent power cuts, salty air and homes that are used seasonally. The right solution takes all of this into account.

The grid and power cuts

On many islands the connection terms are stricter and feeding power into the grid may be limited. There we often recommend zero feed-in or a hybrid system with a battery, which also provides backup when the grid goes down.

Salty air

Close to the sea we choose equipment with suitable protection, mounting structures and fixings that resist corrosion, and we install inverters and batteries in a sheltered space. Annual maintenance matters even more here.

Villas and pools

A pool heat pump running on solar power extends the swimming season at minimal cost, because it works during the hours the sun is producing. A heat pump also covers cooling in summer and hot water for your guests.

Seasonal use

When the house is closed up, a solar system on net billing keeps crediting its production to your bill. With the app you can check the system's status from wherever you are, and we are notified of every fault.

  • We schedule site surveys and installations island by island, with our own crews.
  • Coordination with the property manager or caretaker.
  • Maintenance plans with visits before and after the season.
